The No Cost Restaurant Marketing Plan by WyckWyre.

July 7, 2010

It’s time to enlist an army of passionate customers to market your business.  This is what social media is all about! Below is a list of 10 simple things that you can do to get the ball rolling and the best part is, it won’t cost you a thing!

  1. Post a special on Foursquare for your Mayor.
  2. Give a gift to anyone who writes a review on Yelp.
  3. Put a placard on your tables displaying a % off for anyone who friends you on Facebook or Twitter while they are in the restaurant.
  4. Start one conversation per week on Twitter (not about your restaurant but about something both your restaurant and many of your hip customers care about, i.e. local food).
  5. Follow back everyone who follows you on Twitter and engage 2-3 customers per week who have a lot of followers from your restaurant Twitter account.
  6. Hold a Facebook contest one time per month.
  7. Follow 5 national chains and 5 local restaurants (not necessarily in your area) who have an aggressive social media strategy for ongoing learning.
  8. Print your “follow us on Facebook and Twitter” (include your user names) on receipts, cups, napkins, etc.
  9. Make your restaurant a “Google Place” and post a coupon and your menu on the Google listing.
  10. Consider posting new menu items via Twitter and Facebook the day they are available and offer discounts for those who try it and leave reviews.
