NBC Makes Restaurant Dreams Come True.

February 8, 2011

Subway got started when a family friend gave Fred DeLuca $1,000 to start his own sandwich shop. Papa John’s began with a simple prayer (“God, just give me something I can do that I don’t have to work three times harder than everybody else.”) and an opportunity to run a bar that his father co-owned. Well this 2011 midseason, NBC has a reality TV show where restaurateur amateurs and hopefuls compete for their chance to shine. In “America’s Next Great Restaurant,” people will vie for the opportunity of a lifetime to see their original restaurant concept come alive with the opening of three locations — Hollywood, Minneapolis, and New York City.

Investors Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle, and Lorena Garcia, executive chef and restaurateur will be working side by side with the competitors to further develop their ideas and put each competitor’s restaurant concept through strict business and cooking challenges to determine which concept has the goods to become America’s next great restaurant.

After a nationwide search, the top 21 competitors will present their restaurant concepts to the investors and 11 will be immediately eliminated leaving the top 10 competitors to be exposed to the cameras over the course of the season. In the final episode, the  winner will experience the reality of launching his or her own restaurant chain.

Look for me in midseason 2016.
