Pizza Inn Goes NASCAR.

April 2, 2012

Recently, I read and posted an article about competing with the “big guys”. While that article was focused more on local store marketing, every mom-and-pop shop all the way to regional chains think of ways to duke it out with their larger and wealthier competition on every battlefront. Pizza Inn is no different. So how does a regional David-sized pizza chain compete with a worldwide Goliath pizza chain? They partner with an ally even larger their competitors.

The maker of the wold’s best thin crust pizza has teamed up with the maker of the world’s greatest soft drink, Coca-Cola, to offer a NASCAR sweepstakes. Now here’s something that Pizza Inn wouldn’t have been able to pull off on their own, but having such a great partner allows them to catch a draft — moving forward with little resistance — to decrease the lead the Big 3 (Pizza Hut, Domino’s, and Papa John’s) has on them with less effort. If you couldn’t tell, that was an attempt to make a NASCAR reference. I don’t watch NASCAR, sorry. Pizza Inn isn’t the first pizza chain its size to offer such a sweepstakes; Godfather’s Pizza and Hunt Brother’s Pizza has done similar campaigns, but the one-time Consumer’s Choice #1 Pizza Chain in the U.S. has the store count, map coverage, and  following to be more successful than other regional chains have been.

Starting today through May 27, all who visit www.pizzainn.com and sign up for the sweepstakes have the potential of winning the following grand prize:

  • Airfare & hotel accommodations for 2 to Atlanta, GA
  • Invitation to the Coca-Cola Reunion Dinner with members of the Coca-Cola Racing Team
  • Ride along with a member of the Coca-Cola Racing Team around Atlanta Motor Speedway
  • Tickets to Saturday’s Nationwide Series race & Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race
  • Passes for the Coca-Cola trackside hospitality & Race Day Show
  • Tickets to World of Coke Museum & Georgia Aquarium

Instant Win game prizes are also available. Good luck and remember that I told you. I want my cut!
